Earthwalking

I was once told that nothing happens when you publish a book. That your phone doesn’t ring, that the media doesn’t call, that you are not suddenly 21 again, or famous. These things are perhaps true.

But something changes in oneself as a result. For me there is something very satisfying about committing a small act of creativity and putting it into the world. If one has tried to tell one’s truth, make it engaging. It could be an egotistical act, but for me, it simply says, this is who I am, this is what I think.

Earthwalking is part memoire, part adventure travelogue, and part climate/naturalist journal. It is both a requiem for our beautiful web of life and the hope we need moving forward. We cannot save the world without savoring the world. These are my notes on our connections to the natural world.
